Your Countertop Installation Starts Here
To ensure everything goes smoothly before our installation team arrives at your home, here are a few important steps to follow:
- Clear the Work Area: Remove all items from your countertops, including small appliances, dishes, decorations, and anything else sitting on the surfaces. Empty nearby drawers and cabinets that might be affected during installation. Store these items in a safe place away from the work zone.
- Create a Clear Path. Stone slabs are heavy and require careful handling. Make sure there’s a clear, wide pathway from your front door or garage to the installation area. Move furniture, rugs, or any obstacles that might be in the way. The easier it is for our team to carry materials, the faster and safer the installation will be.
- Protect Your Belongings: Cover or move valuable items near the work area. Even though we take great care to protect your home, stone installation can create some dust. Consider covering nearby furniture with sheets or plastic if you can’t move it completely.
- Check Your Plumbing. Turn off the water supply to your sink if possible. Know where your main water shut-off valve is located in case we need to access it during the disconnection of plumbing fixtures.
- Plan for Disruption: Your kitchen or bathroom will be out of service during installation. Plan meals accordingly and have paper plates and cups ready if needed. The installation typically takes 4-6 hours, depending on the size and complexity of your project.
- Safety Considerations: Keep children and pets away from the work area for their safety. Stone pieces are heavy, and installation tools can be dangerous. Plan activities to keep little ones occupied in other areas of your home.
What You Should Do While We Install Your Countertops
Stay available to answer questions, but give our installation team plenty of room to work. Stone installation requires focus and precision, so interruptions can affect timing and quality. Feel free to watch from a safe distance, though many homeowners enjoy seeing their new countertops come together.
Installation day involves power tools and equipment, so expect some noise throughout the process. You’ll also notice some dust, especially when we make final adjustments or cuts. We use dust collection systems, but a small amount is normal during stone work.
Step-by-Step
Installation
We start by carefully disconnecting your sink, faucet, and any other fixtures. Old countertops are then removed piece by piece, taking care not to damage your cabinets. We protect surrounding areas with drop cloths and plastic sheeting.
Your new stone slabs are carefully transported from our truck to your installation area. This requires multiple team members due to the weight and size of the pieces. We use special carrying equipment to ensure safe handling.
Before placing any stone, we verify that your cabinets are level and properly supported. Uneven cabinets can cause stress fractures in stone. We make any necessary adjustments to ensure a solid, level foundation.
We'll carefully place each piece of your new stone on the cabinets and make sure everything fits just right before securing it permanently. If you have multiple pieces, we'll join them together so smoothly you won't even see where they connect. Then we'll cut the openings for your sink and faucet and polish everything to a beautiful finish.
Your sink, faucet, and any other plumbing fixtures are reconnected and tested. We check for leaks and ensure everything functions properly before considering the job complete.
All surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and polished. We remove all debris, vacuum any dust, and do a final quality check. You'll have a chance to inspect everything and ask questions before we consider the installation finished. Before leaving, we'll explain how to properly care for your new countertops to keep them looking beautiful for years. We'll also provide you with any warranty information and our contact details for future questions.
